Tuesday – August 24th – 1 Timothy 1:5 -----
5 Now the purpose of the commandment is love from a pure heart, from a good conscience, and from sincere faith,
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MANY PROBLEMS, LIKE STORMS, NEVER ARRIVE IN SPITE OF THREATENING SKIES.*
Good Tuesday to you! Here in O’Fallon and surrounding communities all of our local school districts are back in full swing. The unknown and uncertain “newness” of a new school can certainly create a mix of emotions in both students and parents. Our inspirational thought for today should be a calming salve for those battling the nerves of “what might happen”. Even if you are not directly connected to the return of school days, every one of us has something or some situation that creeps into our minds and works to erode our personal peace. May today be filled with the certainty that God has our backs and at the same time controls that which is out in front of us.
In our pick verse today, Paul uses this verse to begin a contrast between the motives of false teachers and truth-filled teachers. The false teachers were motivated by a spirit of selfish curiosity and a desire to gain power and prestige for themselves. Their agenda was human-based and not focused on Kingdom growth. On the other hand, Christian teachers are motivated by sincere faith and a desire to do what is right in the eyes of God. It may be exciting to impress people with our great knowledge, but high status based on falsehood is ultimately empty and leads to a permanent separation from God.
Blessings
