Thursday – August 26th – 1 Timothy 1:8-11     -----

1:8 But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully,
9 knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
10 for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine,
11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God which was committed to my trust.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
Good Thursday to you!  In a world where every news story seems to focus on the bad in people, places, or situations today’s inspirational thought helps me rise above the mire of everyday life. I don’t think we can hear or share enough how much God loves us and would do anything to move us back into relationship with Him. Today I want to focus on being a positive influencer for the Kingdom of Heaven. Today I want my conversations (and my thoughts) to be uplifting and encouraging. Today I want what I hear to be filtered through the word of God and not the talk of humans. How about you? Are you ready for some positivity today?
In our pick verses today, Paul concludes his section on warnings about false teachers within the church. Paul states that those who do not have God’s love in their hearts cannot be faithful or faith-filled teachers of God’s word. They will misinterpret it and affirm things for which have no true scriptural basis. Even something good like the law of God can be used improperly. Its ultimate purpose is to teach us about right and wrong and to curb sinful actions. However, when scripture is used as part of a human centered agenda it can be manipulated to change the intent of God’s word and will for our lives as individuals and as a body of believers. Our not knowing what is in scripture leaves us open to accept false teachings since we have nothing with which to test the words we hear. The best thing we can do today is spend some time in God’s word.
