Friday – August 27th – 1 Timothy 1:12-13 -----
1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry,
13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GODLINESS SHINES BRIGHT IN THE DARK NIGHT OF WORLDLINESS.*
Give yourself a pat on the back because we have reached another end of the week. This is also the last Friday in August 2021 which means fall sports are here! Maybe the temperatures will also see that we are moving toward September and adjust accordingly. The inspirational thought for today is connected to the opening chapters of the Old Testament book of Daniel. Included in those first chapters is the story of Daniel’s three friends in the fiery furnace. When the world comes after us for our faith in God it is comforting to know that God is on our side and is there to protect our connection to Him. When you feel pressure today lean a little closer to God, the source of all perfect strength.
In our pick verses today, Paul begins a new teaching topic which focuses on sharing his personal testimony of God’s grace. Paul’s Damascus Road experience is in the past, but the memory of that moment and his witness to it years later are present tense. We should never forget where/who we were before we discovered a true relationship with Jesus. Paul’s conduct had been wrong, but it was not as if he clearly understood the truth about Jesus and purposely rebelled against Christ. We are judged in light of our knowledge; nevertheless, God’s grace extended to Paul, the persecutor of Christianity, could only be described as the gift of God’s mercy upon a sinner. The more we know about Jesus the greater our responsibility is to act like Jesus, and then to follow His teachings. Knowledge is not a defense for insubordination to the Gospel.
Blessings
