Monday – August 30th – 1 Timothy 1:18-20     ------

1:18 This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare,
19 having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck,
20 of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
DOES YOUR LIFE AFFIRM THE REALITY OF GOD OR UNDERMINE IT?*

Good Monday to you! As we begin this new week, I think it is important for us to spend a moment pondering the power of our inspirational thought today. Easily going hand-in-hand with our “It’s Your Move” series we are challenged to evaluate our life’s goals over against our relationship with God. Maybe the bigger question is which first informs the other. Do we set our life on a track then include God, or do we establish a relationship with God and then seek to do the will of God in our life? I like to ask - does my life’s actions help people to believe in God or do they negate the unconditional love and grace God offers to all people? How is your life a reflection of God in your life?

In our pick verses today, we conclude the first chapter of 1 Timothy, and Paul’s words of encouragement to Timothy. Paul assures Timothy that as the Holy Spirit spoke through prophets in the selection persons for ministry in the early church, Timothy can be confident that God has selected him for this assignment in Ephesus. In this way, the hopes and expectations for Timothy were expressed through his selection and his ordination for ministry. Timothy’s calling came not merely from Paul but from God. Paul reminds Timothy to have both faith in Christ and a good conscience, as these two things must never by separated in the life of a committed believe. To often religious error has its roots in moral failure rather than in intellectual doubt. Compromising our conscience leads to compromising our faith. We must be able to stand strong in our faith and conscience if we are to resist the attacks of the evil one.

Blessings
