Thursday – September 2nd – 1 Timothy 2:5-7 -----
2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle--I am speaking the truth in Christ and not lying--a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD RESULTS IN A LOVE OF GOD.*
Happy Thursday to you! I am interestingly drawn to today’s inspirational thought. We live in a world today where there is an unending quest for knowledge. It seems the more you know the more you are venerated. From the champions of Jeopardy to the thrill of the local trivia night fundraiser, we want to surround ourselves with as much knowledge as possible. Today’s thought reminds me that acquired knowledge is really useless unless it is focused on God. We can read and quote scripture all we want, but if our lives are not transformed by what we gain in knowledge we have wasted our time. Today I will strive to let my knowledge of God shape my love for God. How about you?
In our pick verses for today from this first letter to the young preacher Timothy, Paul concludes his teaching on the importance of prayer and salvation in the life of believers. Paul points out that God’s plan of salvation is offered through the sacrifice of Jesus and that salvation is not available thorough any other means or system on earth. Christ’s death on the cross is our paid-up ransom, a sacrifice made by Jesus on our behalf. At just the right time God sent Jesus and revealed His plan for our salvation through the forgiveness of our sins. Paul’s position as an apostle was a divine appointment by God to take this message outside the boundaries of Judah. Paul had a special commission to preach the gospel message to the Gentiles across the Roman Empire and to teach them its implications for their lives. His commission to the Gentiles is proof that God desires all people to be saved. Friends, that includes you and me and all the people we know!
Blessings

Adding to your comments on the thought for the day, isn't it ironic that many/most/all (generalization, I know) of those knowledgeable and venerated people are too arrogant to study or read God's Word? The only bit of knowledge and wisdom that really matter!
Along with the quest for knowledge is our need for stimulation.
