Saturday – September 11th – 1 Timothy 4:3-5     ------

4:3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;
5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

 The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Saturday:
     THIS IS THE FUNDAMENTAL THING, THE MOST SERIOUS THING OF ALL: THAT WE ARE ALWAYS IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD.*

     Welcome to Saturday. While it is the weekend and a time to discover an opportunity to rest and restore, today is also an ominous days in the history of our nation. 9/11 is one of those days, for folks who are at least in the third decade of their life, that we can remember exactly where we were on the fateful Tuesday morning. I was on a mission trip in Juarez, Mexico just beginning what was planned to be a fruitful day of work on a new mission house in that city. Surrounded by twenty-four people, including my wife, oldest daughter, and my in-laws we quickly made the decision to leave Mexico and returned to the US, all this amid rumors of all borders into the US being closed. I find comfort in today’s inspirational verse as it was the certainty that God was with us that helped our team through the next thirty-six hours as we made our way back to Missouri. Please take a moment and remember those who lost their lives twenty-years ago today.

     In our pick verses today, we close out Paul’s warning concerning false teachers in the last days. In verse three Paul is listing some of the bogus information being shared by these false teachers in Ephesus. These supposed prohibitions they championed arose from the false belief that matter was evil and any association with physical things would inhibit spiritual growth. Paul responds by stating the God created all things, and all creation is good (Genesis 1:25). Paul is teaching that material things are not evil, and when used properly can actually enhance our witness of sharing Jesus. The challenge we face today is to know what constitutes proper usage and then to use these material things to the glory of God.

Blessings
