Thursday – September 23rd – 1 Timothy 5:19-21      -----

5:19 Do not receive an accusation against an elder except from two or three witnesses.
20 Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.
21 I charge you before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.
22 Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people's sins; keep yourself pure.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
BUOYANT AND ZEALOUS, ZECHARIAH HAD THE SOUL OF AN ARTIST AND THE EYES OF A SEER.*

Happy Thursday to you!  Our inspirational thought for today is from the introduction to the Old Testament prophet Zechariah. This book, buried in the back of the minor prophets was begun around 520BC as the Jewish exiles were preparing to return to Judah. It was completed around 480BC highlighted by God’s promise of the coming Messiah. In the chronological timeline of the Old Testament this is one of God’s final revelations for His chosen people. I am always blessed by the unexpected discovered in reading all the Bible and not just the familiar and friendly stories.

In our pick verses today, Paul concludes this passage on the proper respect and the selection to be given to spiritual leaders within the church. The primary criteria for the selection of church leadership is that they must display a strong faith and be morally upright. Paul reminds Timothy that not everyone who wants to be a church leader is gifted or eligible. Paul also encourages Timothy to be constantly on guard against showing favoritism or giving preferential treatment to some while ignoring others. We are to make sure we honor people for who they are in Christ, not for who they are in the world. Paul is quick to remind Timothy that a church should never be hasty about choosing its leaders, especially the pastor, because it is easy to rush past, or overlook, potential major problems, or hidden sins. It is a serious responsibility to prayerfully discern all spiritual leaders within the church community.

Blessings
