Sunday – September 26th – 1 Timothy 6:3-5     -----

6:3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness,
4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
5 useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE PROPHETS OF GOD WERE COURAGEOUS MEN WHO BELIEVED THAT ONE PLUS GOD WAS ALWAYS A MAJORITY.*

Blessed and a very happy Sunday to you! This first weekend of fall and this last weekend of September are before us on our calendars!  How are you spending your weekend? Has it been a time to relax? A time to do fall chores around the house? Has it been an apple picking type weekend? Have you been watching pigskins passed around or smiled as the Cardinals continue to book their ticket to the postseason? Yes, there are lots of choices for us to fill our time over the weekend. I do hope that one of those options at the top of your list is to spend time with God. In building, online, in worship circles, in your recliner, or maybe even finding God in the quiet of your prayer closet. Week number three in the “Awakening” series happens this weekend and you will not want to miss the teaching on being Awakened to Humility.

In pick verses today Paul is now focusing on sharing how Godliness can lead to a life of spiritual peace. In these verses he now returns to his ongoing indictment of the false teachers at Ephesus. Paul defines “otherwise” as anything other than a strict practical holiness within one’s life. Paul knows firsthand that sound Christian teaching imparts spiritual health to those who live by it. He also knows that idle speculation and verbal quibbles – created by manipulation and/or misinterpretation of God’s word – often produce only confusion and division. The teachings of godless people bring no spiritual profit to either the teacher of the hearer. Their minds are so corrupt that they think they may use their religion as a way to make financial profit for themselves. Paul urges us to withdraw from them and from their teaching.  What false teachings today do we need to use spirit inspired discernment to remove ourselves from?
Blessings
