6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

MALACHI’S PROPHECY, LIKE A MORNING DAWN, BRINGS WITH IT THE PROMISE OF A NEW AND MORE GLORIOUS DAY.*
Happy Thursday to you! Yes, you guessed it, our inspirational thought signals that my reading through the Bible in a year has arrived at the last book of the Old Testament – the book of the prophet Malachi. This year long journey has taken 274 days, or 9 months, to read through the Old Testament. In another three months Beth and I will have completed the entirety of the Bible in 2021. Friends, I would strongly encourage you to make an early New Year’s resolution to begin 2022 by utilizing a reading through the Bible program. I know we are already looking forward to starting over again on January 1st. The amazing thing is that every time we read scripture something new and powerful jumps off the pages. You can never go wrong spending time reading God’s word and seeking God’s will for your life.
Our pick verse today continues Paul’s closing instructions to Timothy. As a quick reminder, Timothy was appointed by Paul to be the pastor at the church in Ephesus. Paul took seriously the importance of mentoring and encouraging this young disciple for both ministry and for Timothy’s own discipleship growth. Paul likes to use metaphors around athletic competition that highlight the need for strong spiritual discipline and endurance. While the prize for a successful athlete is a medal worn proudly or trophy lifted high, the disciplined believer has the ultimate prize of eternal life in the glorious presence of God in Heaven. Our calling as a Christian witness is to live our lives in such a way that all who observe us will desire to know more about Jesus. What will people see when they observe your life today?
