Thursday – October 7th – 2 Timothy 1:3-4 -----
1:3 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day,
4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy,
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE ARE NEVER ALONE WHEN WE ARE ALONE WITH JESUS.*
Happy Thursday to you! Let’s take a moment to pause from our busy lives and ponder the power contained in our inspirational though today. Being alone can be a very challenging time for most people. Alone time can make us feel empty and disconnected, especially since we are created to be a relational people. For some people alone time can become a no speed limit interstate highway for the devil to confront us with temptation after temptation. Our inspirational thought teaches us that we are never alone when we know Jesus. While we may not physically see or audibly hear Jesus in our presence, we are reminded over and over in the Bible that when we accept Jesus into our heart as our savior the spirit of God dwells within us from that moment on. In fact, we should intentionally create space in our busy schedule for some alone time with Jesus.
In our pick verses today, Paul continues his opening remarks by sharing with Timothy what he has discovered as important qualities for church leadership. Paul, sharing from his personal experience, had learned the practices of godliness and prayer from his Jewish upbringing. Paul knows that an active and focused prayer life is as important for the health of the human spirit as breathing is to the body. Paul knows well of the challenge Timothy is facing in Ephesus and encourages him to see each obstacle as an opportunity to pray for God’s wisdom, direction, and purpose. In verse four Paul is reflecting on his final stop in Ephesus and the tearful goodbyes that meeting produced. Paul had left Timothy at Ephesus before his arrest and imprisonment in Rome. Paul remained hope-filled that he would be able to return to Ephesus and encourage Timothy in person. As fully committed followers of Jesus we should always be seeking what God wants us to be doing now and in the future. What kingdom opportunity is God giving you today?
Blessings
