Monday – October 11th – 2 Timothy 1:9-11 -----
2:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,
10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
11 to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
NO TRIAL TROUBLES THE CHILD OF GOD WHO KNOWS GOD HAS A REASON FOR ALLOWING IT.*
Monday has arrived! Today’s inspirational thought is for me one of those upper-level mature disciple type statements. This statement is not for the weak of heart or for those hesitant to fully trust God. To be able to give more than lip-service this statement requires years of first-hand experience in living through the trials and struggles of life. It requires us to always keep our eyes on God and to trust in the promises God makes throughout scripture. For me the learning curve of living into this statement comes from seeing this in action in my life through the little things, which then adds up to a confidence that God will also have the big things covered when they come along. As we begin this week may our focus be on the God who was willing to go to the cross to bring us back into eternal relationship.
Our pick verses today continue Paul’s theme of embracing the power of God for Timothy as he grows in confidence as a church leader. By this power God has not only saved us, but also called us to a life of holiness. God’s grace was assured in Jesus before the beginning of time but has now been revealed by Christ’s coming. Christ’s power is so great that He has done away with death and assured us of life eternal and immortal in Heaven. With this assurance what have we to fear? Paul concludes this segment with a reminder that his calling was to be preacher, apostle, and teacher. This, my friends, reflects the calling God issues to all of us who are followers of Jesus. What might you do this week to live into your calling?
Blessings
