Wednesday – October 20th – 2 Timothy 2:9 -----
2:9 for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Wednesday:
YOU CAN GIVE WITHOUT LOVING, BUT YOU CANNOT LOVE WITHOUT GIVING.*
Hello Wednesday. My prayer is that your week is going well and that you have been a blessing to all you have encountered so far this week. Our inspirational thought takes my mind directly to our Commitment 2022 campaign that is currently underway. We are encouraging our SunRise folks to commitment to a variety of important spiritual growth opportunities in 2022. One of those primary areas is in developing a life centered in extravagant generosity. Our giving to God is based on our response to God having first given us the gift of salvation and grace. It is by God’s love that we are saved, and it is our response to God’s love that we become extravagantly generous in our lives. You can find the 2022 Commitment cards at www.sunrisefamily.org/commitment
Our pick verse for today continues Paul’s defense from yesterday of the nature of Jesus being fully human and fully divine. Paul was in prison because of the Good News he preached about Jesus. The truth about Jesus is no more popular in our day than in Paul’s, but it still has the power to reach receptive hearts. When Paul said that Jesus was God, he angered the Jews who had already condemned Jesus for blasphemy. However, many Jews did become followers of Jesus in spite of the repercussions associated with accepting the truth about Jesus. Paul also angered the Romans who worshiped the emperor as God, but even then, some in Caesar’s household turned to Jesus. When Paul said Jesus was human, he caught the wrath of the Greeks who thought divinity was soiled if it had any contact with humanity, still many Greeks accepted a faith in Jesus. Today we will discover that there are many objections to who Jesus is and what Jesus can do for a lost soul. Our calling as disciples is to continue to point to Jesus and let the Holy Spirit get under the skin of not-yet-believers.
Blessings
