Friday – October 22nd – 2 Timothy 2:11-13 -----
2:11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A STEWARD IS MORE A GIVER THAN A GUARDIAN.*
Happy Friday to you! Yes, another week is almost complete as we inch closer to the opening of the holiday season. Calendars will start to fill as activities increase with family, friends, school, church, and community options. This time of the year can be very exciting and filled with dread, often occurring at the same time. How we choose to set our priorities can have a direct impact on tipping the scale toward the exciting side of the ledger. My prayer is that you and your family are able to enjoy the entire holiday season ahead of us.
In our pick verses today, Paul now addresses a non-negotiable truth about the relationship that exists between God and believers. In these three verses Paul is possibly quoting lines from an early Christian creed or hymn that depicted the results of being either faithful or faithless in relationship with Jesus. Paul begins this litany with a reminder that if we have died to sin and selfish pleasures, we shall share in the life of Christ both now and throughout all eternity. Paul states that if we endure the challenges of being a disciple by being faithful to Jesus and His teachings, we can rest assured in the truth of the salvation promised from God. Paul goes on to say that if we deny Him, we will risk the loss of our salvation. If we chose to be faithless and turn away from Christ, God’s promises are still true. God will always be faithful in saving those who truly believe and seek to live a life in Christ. Friends, these last two statements can be tough words to hear. Our culture and society are pushing Christian thinking toward a mindset of universal salvation and the hope that all will eventually be saved into Heaven regardless of their belief in Jesus or their actions on earth. If we accept this misguided and non-biblical logic, we are disregarding Jesus’ death on the cross and have canceled the need for a savior.
Blessings
