Saturday – October 23 – 2 Timothy 2:14 -----
2:14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MONEY ALONE HAS NEVER YET MADE ANYONE RICH.*
Hello Saturday! Congratulations – you have made it to the weekend and what an exciting weekend before us. At SunRise our weekend will focus on the third installment of our 2022 Commitment series where we will discuss “Eccentric Growth” utilizing the scripture passage from Ephesians 2:1-10. Great music is lined up for both the online and inbuild services. My encouragement is for you to make plans to worship with SunRise in some form or fashion this weekend.
In our pick verse today, Paul launches into a new but familiar topic – dealing with false teachers and how the depth of a Christian’s moral and spiritual life is important in discerning the falsehoods within incorrect teaching. Paul references those teachings he lifted up in verses 11-13 as guidelines for which any follower of Jesus can use to discern truth from lies. False teachers would engage in speculative arguments that were not important for loving God or encouraging others in the Christian faith. Such discussions not only waste time and energy, but also have the potential to destroy the faith of other believers. The time consumed in debating and discussing unimportant things is time lost in sharing the Gospel or helping a struggling soul. As much as things have changed over two thousand years, the work of the devil to distract the sharing of the good news has remained the same. We must rely on the Holy Spirit to help us cut through the false teachings of our day.
Blessings
