Saturday – October 30th – 2 Timothy 3:1 -----
3:1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
JESUS HIMSELF PRAYED FOR US, AND GOD LISTENED. WHAT ENCOURAGEMENT!*
Hello Saturday! If you are looking for an exciting activity for today, then you need to add to you “must do” list SunRise Trunk or Treat from noon to 2pm in the east parking lot. Come and enjoy the decorated trunks and the dressed-up kids. Having children in tow is not a requirement to having fun. On Sunday the 9:45am inbuilding service will highlight the Seeds Children’s choir opening worship with a couple of great kid songs. Join us for one or both of these exciting events.
Our pick verse for today opens the third chapter in Paul’s second letter to Timothy. This new chapter will focus entirely on the spiritual deterioration of evil people who chose not to embrace God’s truth for their lives. Paul begins this chapter by introducing the term “in the last days” In Christian theology the “last days” refers to the events that will take place at the end of human history and bring God’s plan for the redemption of humanity to a climax. Those events include the Second Coming of Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the final day of judgement. In the new world to come, God will claim the final victory over Satan, and then evil in all forms will be completely banished forever. This new world doesn’t arrive without its own lead up of perilous times. This time of waiting and preparation will be difficult, challenging and grievous for all Christians, but especially for those in church leadership. Christians will need to be as closely connected to the truth of God as possible. Since we don’t know the exact dates or times, we should make it a priority to draw closer to God right now.
Blessings
Pastor Jim
