Friday – November 5, 2021 – 2 Timothy 3:14-15     -----

3:14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them,
15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

The inspirational thought for today from the Daily Walk Bible:
THE MORE WE KNOW THE MIND OF CHRIST, THE MORE MISSIONARY-MINDED WE BECOME.*

Good Friday to you! Another great and busy weekend is about to “fall” our way at SunRise. Serve Saturday and Cars & Coffee both headline tomorrow’s activities and Coffee for Coats will be collecting winter items in exchange for a cup of hot coffee between 9am and 10am in the Twin Chimneys parking lot. Best of all we are open for business for this weekend with running water (in the pipes and not on the ground). Major repairs are still underway, and the McClure side building entrance is still closed. This has been a challenging, interesting, and yet exhilarating week in the shadow of the O’Fallon steeple. My faith always grows deeper the more the devil throws my way.

In our pick verses today, Paul expands his teaching on the importance of Christian leaders in developing a steadfast attitude in the face of challenges, trials, and temptations. For Paul a Christian leader must remain convinced of the truth of the word of God and stand firm against all who would deny or attempt to undermine the validity of scripture. Paul gives two important reasons for our need to stand steadfastness as believers. First, to honor the lives of those from whom we have learned about Jesus. Second, to acknowledge that the Holy Scriptures are the only dependable source of assurance, wisdom, and the source for our salvation.

Blessings
