Tuesday – November 30th – Titus 3:1-2 -----
3:1) Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,
2) to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.
3) For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IN CHRIST WE SEE GOD’S PURPOSE IN MAKING THE WORLD AND IN MAKING US.*
Good Tuesday to you! On this last day of November we celebrate that God loves us unconditionally and was willing to die for our sins. In our inspirational thought today we see how all things in creation point to the glory and majesty of God through Jesus. Our very purpose for existence is grounded in being created in the image and likeness of God. Our way of living into our purpose is to fully represent God’s love, grace, peace, and forgiveness in our interactions with other human beings – not just those relationships that are easy but also those folks who require a response of extra grace on our part. Let’s be praying for each other this week that we represent the Kingdom of Heaven in all that we say and do.
Today we begin a new chapter in Paul’s letter to Titus and with this a new emphasis on how we are saved by grace for good works. Today’s verses are not new advice but something the Cretans had heard from Paul on day one. These are basic Christian teachings that have spanned every generation of believers from the first sermon in Jerusalem all the way to today. Christians are to be good citizens of the community in which they live. Christians are to obey the rules of the land unless the rules are contrary to God. Believers should be the example of helping with works that benefit the larger community. On a more individual basis Christians should refrain from speaking evil words about a person, even if they first speak evil about you. As followers of Jesus, we were once bound by the same evils prevalent in society, but we have been delivered by the power of Jesus. We should seize every opportunity to help those who are still held captive by the evils of today.
Blessings
