Monday – December 6th – Titus 3:12-15 -----
3:12) When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to spend the winter there.
13) Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey with haste, that they may lack nothing.
14) And let our people also learn to maintain good works, to meet urgent needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
15) All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for Monday:
TO KEEP THE FAITH, WE MUST LEARN TO LIVE THE FAITH.*
Good Monday to you! Yes, the start of another week that I am sure will be filled by God with opportunities for us to both live our faith and to share our faith. Our inspirational thought is a powerful reminder that the faith we possess is not something to be hidden or stored away for safekeeping. Faith is meant to be a verb and not a noun in the sense that faith is always in motion. We must be intentional in growing our faith, in perfecting our faith, in strengthening our faith. To do nothing with our faith – as the book of James states – is to have a dead faith. What might you do this week to live out your faith by living into your faith?
Today we conclude Paul’s letter to Titus with a short section of personal messages and final greetings. When we come to the end of one of Paul’s letters it can be tempting to skip over a list of unfamiliar names and places. Yet, the power and promise of God can be discovered in every verse and in every word of scripture. Even in his saying goodbye, Paul reminds the believers in Crete to show hospitality to those who were true messengers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Apparently, Apollos was a traveling evangelist who was on a preaching tour through Crete. Paul concludes this letter by encouraging Titus, and all the believers, to be industrious rather than being idle. In doing so they would be able to provide for their own personal needs and also be able to help others as well. A true Christian spirit displays itself in practical goodness and spiritual fruitfulness. Christians today are held to this same standard of proof.
Blessings
