Thursday – December 9th – Philemon 1:3-5     -----

3) Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
4) I thank my God, making mention of you always in my prayers,
5) hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,

The Daily Walk Bible Inspirational thought for today:
IN THE CREATION, THE LORD MADE HUMANS LIKE HIMSELF; BUT IN THE REDEMPTION HE MADE HIMSELF LIKE HUMANS.*

Happy Thursday to you.  Yesterday I listed all the great Christmas season events happening over the next week. Today I want to get on your calendars our Christmas Eve opportunities coming up. It is not to early to begin thinking about where and how you will be spending December 24th. Our in-building Christmas Eve Day begins with a tradition worship service at 1pm followed by contemporary services at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm. Our 11pm Christmas Eve service is shaping up to be a true “Expect the Unexpected” worship opportunity. However, a week before then you can also choose to be part of the SunRise Travelers’ service – an early in-building Christmas Eve celebration on Wednesday December 15th at 7pm. If you are traveling away from O’Fallon for the holidays or just have a really busy Christmas Eve schedule, this gives you the opportunity to celebrate with your SunRise family without missing out on the Christmas Eve experience. I hope to see you as part of our Travelers’ service or any of our Christmas Eve services.

In our pick verses today from Philemon we begin the fullness of the letter by Paul sending both thanksgiving and prayers for his friend Philemon. This is a common greeting Paul uses in most of his letters. Paul is thankful that God’s grace in and through Jesus has the potential (to the extent we allow) to bring peace and harmony into any Christian relationship and it has the power to bring a wholeness of life to every believer. Our attitude of love toward others should always cause us to be thankful to God and to continue to be in pray for them. Our faith in Jesus spurs our love toward other fellow believers, even it they come from different places, different backgrounds, or different perspectives. How might we be an example of God’s love and peace to others this week?

Blessings
   Pastor Jim
