Friday – December 10th – Philemon 1:6 ------
1:6) that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A FIELD THAT HAS RESTED GIVES A BOUNTIFUL CROP.*
Yes, Friday is here! And according to my calendar we are just a mere two weeks away from Christmas Eve. If you are like me your commitments seem to continually increase while your spare time is on the decrease. This time of year, can easily, and at the same time, be both exhilarating and exhausting. Our inspirational thought was perfect for me today. I needed the reminder that rest and slowing down are as much a part of fruitfulness as going full speed through this season. In fact, the advent candle we light this weekend represents the “peace” that comes from and through our relationship with God. My prayer is that we can discover peace these next two weeks despite our chaotic schedules.
In our pick verse today, Paul continues his opening portion of his letter to Philemon by expressing his great appreciation for their mutual love of God and commitment to growing new believers. Paul is overjoyed that Philemon has opened his heart and his home to the church members in Colossae. Today’s verse focuses on the importance of sharing our faith with others. Of course, one of the most important reasons to share our faith is that it helps others come to know more about Jesus. But an important secondary reason is that the more we share our faith story the fresher is remains in our minds. If we set to the side our talking about the difference Jesus has made in our lives, then we run the risk of forgetting the power of the story and the ability to tell it from the heart. Over this week I challenge you to recall and then share who Jesus is to you.
Blessings
