1:3) who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
LAY HOLD OF THE BIBLE UNTIL THE BIBLE LAYS HOLD OF YOU.*
Good Wednesday to you! Our inspirational thought for today should be considered a foundational aspect of our Christian faith. With Christmas celebrations filling our calendars and Christmas gatherings occupying our thoughts we might be tempted to think we have maxed out our “religious” quota for this week. It can become way too easy to set aside intentional time in scripture when we are surrounded by churchy things. However, there is absolutely no substitute for time spent reading God’s word. The discipline of reading scripture equates to us spending time in conversation with God. On display in the words of the Bible is the true essence of God’s relationship with us and with others. The more we read the better we understand the nature of God. Sad is the life that bases its religion on hearsay and the ramblings of someone else. The truth about God comes from reading God’s word. I know it is not time for new years resolutions just yet – but maybe jot down on your list of “things to do” in 2022 reading the Bible daily.
In our pick verse today from Hebrews, the author immediately begins teaching that the Son is God’s supreme revelation. As a side note, the absence of a typical Pauline greeting in this letter is one of a few reasons that Paul is not given a nod as the author. Hebrews focuses on the exalted Son in the position of ultimate authority – being at the right hand of God. Like no other throughout history, this triumphant Son is the brightness of God’s glory and the expressed image of God in human form. John Wesley stated that “whatever the Father is, is exhibited in the Son”. God’s full deity is shown in that He directs the course of the universe by the word of His power. It is because Jesus purged our sins that He has ascended to the full exercise of His authority. Because of His triumphant action both sin and death are now under Him.
Blessings
