Hello Tuesday! Just like last week when we were in countdown to Christmas mode, this week, we are in counting down to New Year’s Day. I for one am over the top excited about 2022 both in my personal life and in the life of SunRise. I am convinced that God has mighty plans for the people called SunRise. Notice I didn’t say the “church” SunRise, but instead the people who are SunRise is whom God is interested in using as instruments of faith in the coming year. Our inspirational thought today aligns with our focus for 2022 of growing and going for the Kingdom of Heaven. As we approach this new year my prayer is that you are as excited about God at work in your life and in the life of SunRise as I am.
As we open this second chapter of the book of Hebrews, the author immediately reminds us that we are to pay close attention to the truth that has been proclaimed regarding Jesus so that we won’t be tempted to drift away by the lure of false teachings. Paying careful attention is hard and intentional work on our part, we must continue to focus our mind, body, and senses on God’s word, God’s way, and God’s will. Listening to the teachings of Jesus means not merely hearing but also obeying as displayed in our actions and conversations. As fully committed followers of Jesus we must always listen carefully and then be prepared to carry out God’s instructions as an example of our faith.
