TIME HAS NO POWER OVER THE NAME AND DEEDS AND WORDS OF JESUS CHRIST.*
Good Thursday to you! Our inspirational thought for today is one that is power packed in both relevancy and spiritual depth. Simply stated - the Good News message of the Gospel of Jesus has no expiration date. It was not just for a time span shortly after Jesus’ appearance on earth. It surpassed the fall of the Roman Empire and every empire that followed. Jesus’ message of unconditional love and grace greater than our sin was not something to be captured in the hymns of old and admired by our ancestors. Time has no hold on the timeless message of Jesus. What was real and relevant in first century Palestine is equally real and relevant everywhere in the twenty-first century. The power of the gospel to transform lives and change the direction of history still happens today with great regularity. Don’t think, or speak, or act like Jesus is an historical relic without valuable substance today. To do so is to miss out on God’s love intended for you!
Our pick verse for today echoes the relevance of our inspirational thought. The salvation God offers to us is great because it was grounded in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus and then miraculously confirmed by God through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The rest of the book of Hebrews is first a description of this salvation which has the power to deliver us from sin. And second a strong exhortation from the author for us to hold on to our salvation as the storms of life and the challenges of the devil come our way. Christian history time and time again has met the challenges of the world to discredit God and distract followers from the truth of the Gospel. Our lives are to be living examples of God’s love at work in each of us. What do they see in your life’s witness?
