Friday – December 31st – Hebrews 2:5-7 -----
2:5) For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels.
6) But one testified in a certain place, saying: "What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him?
7) You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE ARE NOT AT OUR BEST PERCHED AT THE SUMMIT; WE ARE CLIMBERS, AT OUR BEST WHEN THE WAY IS STEEP.
We have arrived at Friday and the last day of the year. I would encourage you to take a moment and reflect on the past 365 days. Did the days, weeks, and months unfold in exactly the way you planned? Well probably not “exactly” or possibly not even remotely close to the script we filled out for 2021. Maybe a better question is how often did you still feel the presence of God in those moments when life was diverted from what you had in mind? Our inspirational thought reminds us that life is a journey, and we are actually at our best when we are climbing the steeper inclines of life. Challenges make us stronger and should ultimately draw us closer to God in the process. As we transition into a new year how might you challenge yourself to grow as a follower of Jesus in 2022?
Our pick verses today from the book of Hebrews focuses on God’s ordering of divinity, angels, and humanity. The author of this book is developing a deeper understanding of God’s future plan for humanity while we still wrestle with present reality. Yes, there will come a time when the faithful will inherit the full blessings of salvation but until then we are still resident exiles on earth. The author includes a quote from Psalm 8:4-6 to refer to not only the position of humans in relationship to the angels but also applies this scripture to Jesus as the human representative of all humanity. The love God extends to us is found in His willingness to leave the majesty of Heaven and come to earth to experience firsthand the challenges of humanity. This is the God who loves us in spite of our rebellion and our bent for sinning. This is the God I am willing to give my life to and follow all of my days.
Blessings
