Saturday – January 1st – Hebrews 2:8     -----
2:8) You have put all things in subjection under his feet." For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
Good Saturday and Happy New Year! We have officially stepped into 2022 and have left behind 2021. I look forward to the beginning of each new year and the opportunity to set new goals and make fresh starts. Beth and I are starting our third consecutive trip through scripture this year. The inspirational thoughts we take from our daily reading have reset back to Genesis 1. And what a great word of wisdom for us as we embark on the journey of 2022. A first day activity goal for this year should include a willingness to forgive those who may have wronged us in the past. We need to treat others in the way God has treated us -through undeserved grace and forgiveness. Who is on your list to forgive today?
Our pick verse for today from the second chapter of Hebrews completes the author’s focus on how the incarnate Son was willing to humiliate Himself for our salvation. This verse, in part, draws from the Old Testament Psalm 8 to state that the eventual subjection of all things to Jesus will not be fulfilled until His Second Coming. Until then we believers live in the “in-between” of what is and what will be, the already and not yet. A modern-day theologian put it this way, we are resident aliens who have placement here on earth but citizenship in Heaven. As an already citizen of Heaven, we currently have the blessed opportunity to represent our “homeland” through our actions, our words, and our witness. How might you, as we begin a new year, share the glory of God and your relationship with Him through Jesus?
