Sunday – January 2nd – Hebrews 2:9     -----

2:9) But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SATAN, LIKE A FISHERMAN, BAITS HIS HOOK ACCORDING TO THE APPETITE OF THE FISH.*

Happy Sunday to you! What a great day to spend time worshipping God and surrounding yourself with fellow believers. This week we begin a new teaching series – “Flip The Script”. As this new year begins to unfold it is important for us to keep our eyes focused on God to discover the truth. We all can attest that there are scads of competing voices out in the world all trying to grab our attention and all claiming they have a corner on the real truth. Our inspirational thought is a powerful reminder that Satan will tempt us in the areas where we are most vulnerable and resistance to God’s truth. The first sin recorded in Genesis 3 is humanity questioning, with a little help from the evil one, God’s truth. My long-standing definition of sin is our not trusting God’s word, way, or will in whatever situation we encounter. In this new year may we seek more time with God and less time caught up in the chatter and distractions of the world.

In our pick verse today, our author steps back to verse five in Psalm 8 knowing that this prophecy was fulfilled by Jesus when He became human, suffered death on the cross, and then was exalted to God’s right hand. Jesus’ position as being a little lower than the angels refer to His becoming fully human. Jesus’ death was from the beginning of time the planned purpose of His becoming human and the basis of his exaltation. He fully experienced suffering and death to provide salvation to humanity. God’s plan of salvation is available to everyone and not just for a select group of people. Salvation is offered to all who will accept God’s invitation to turn to him from their sin lives. Do you know someone who might need to hear this message of invitation?

Blessings
