Wednesday – January 5th – Hebrews 2:14-15     -----

2:14) Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
15) and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE EVIDENCE FOR KNOWING GOD IS OBEYING GOD.*

Good Wednesday to you! I hope that 2022 is off and running in a great direction for you. Thanks to all who responded back yesterday to let me know when you started reading the daily scripture blog. Also, to those who made the additional commitment to begin the year-long journey of reading through the Bible. You will not be disappointed. However, when you get to some of those “slower” chapters please feel free to reach and I will help you through the challenge of ancient history. One blessing Beth and I discovered last year was to let our smart phones do the “reading” for us while we listened and followed along – saves having to guess on those unfamiliar names in the Old Testament. Friends, there is no better time spent than a few minutes in God’s word.

Our new section on help in time of temptation launches today in our pick verses. While on the surface these two verses may seem rather “heady” and difficulty to read very quickly, they do provide a great insight to God’s plan of salvation for humanity. God’s redeemed are often referred to in scripture as “children”. This is not to be construed as a derogatory label, as in “childish”, but in the sense that God’s primary focus is to provide care, protection, and peace for those who commit to follow Jesus. Because we are flesh and blood, Jesus had to become human to identify with us and our struggles. Jesus was then able to effectively deal with the two greatest problems facing humanity – sin and death. We have been guaranteed a future victory over death and the grave, and have the power of Jesus on our side to resist the temptation of the evil one.

Blessings
