Saturday – January 8th – Hebrews 3:2-3 -----
3:2) who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all His house.
3) For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT AIMS IN LIFE; THEY JUST NEVER GET AROUND TO PULLING THE TRIGGER.*
Saturday has arrived right on schedule. The weekend is ready for you to accomplish all the things on your early January “to-do” list. I hope one thing on your list is to spend time worshiping God this weekend. Our current SunRise teaching series is “Flip The Script”, where we are intentionally focusing on setting aside any baggage we might have from 2021 and then turning the page to embrace what God has in mind for us in 2022. I have found it very helpful for me to have a symbolic transition from one year to the next, otherwise it can seem like just another day on the calendar and several weeks of writing the wrong year on checks. But then who actually writes checks anymore? Maybe that is the question of the day – in a months’ time how many paper checks do you write? For me I will probably write five paper checks in January – two of which are for quarterly state and federal estimated taxes.
In our pick verses today, we continue our exploration by the author Hebrews of Jesus’ faithfulness to His appointed calling. For the original Jewish readers of this letter, the most important patriarch to date was Moses. The author is witnessing that the work of Jesus is even greater than all that Moses accomplished. Moses was faithful to God and was considered the most revered servant among all of God’s prophets, priests, and people. But now, the Son should be given consideration as being greater than Moses as His faithfulness is equal with the Creator and ruler of God’s people. God’s people in both the Old Testament and New Testament are what comprises the household of God. We as followers of Jesus are included in God’s household. And that is worth celebrating and the reason we worship God.
Blessings
