The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
IT IS POSSIBLE TO LEARN FROM AN ENEMY THINGS WE CAN’T LEARN FROM A FRIEND.*

Hello Saturday – yes, the weekend and the middle of January all in the same day. As I write this blog as am listening to the forecast for what might be our first measurable snowfall for this winter. But as we all know predictions can be far different than reality will actually provide. As with most things in life we should be prepared (i.e. – French toast shopping) but also stay focused on our plans. I learned a long time ago on the farm that you can lose a lot of good hay-baling days listening to extended forecasts. This weekend at SunRise we conclude our short three-week teaching series “Flip The Script”. I hope you are being successful in leaving behind the baggage of 2021 and focusing on the changes necessary for a better you in 2022. Join us in worship this weekend – inbuilding or online as we tell a great story of God’s protection from the Old Testament.

In our pick verse today, we close out the third chapter of the book of Hebrews. The author of this New Testament book, written to the Jewish people of the first century, is reminding the audience of how unbelief brings disaster to our lives. At the root of all rebellion and willful disobedience is unbelief. This unbelief is the refusal to trust God and God’s word in the circumstances we encounter in our life. Our actions become sin when we refuse to act or react by trusting God in these circumstances. For the ancestors of the first readers of this book, their unbelief – their willingness to dismiss God’s word, God’s way, and God’s wisdom sealed their faith to a wilderness existence. What was once their hope of a better future disappeared when, by their calculations, the odds seemed too great for even God to provide protection. The best way to resist falling into a life of disbelief is to recognize the temptations used by Satan to cause us to doubt God’s ability. We are a people who believe that with God all things are possible.

Blessings
