Sunday – January 16th – Hebrews 4:1-2     -----

4:1) Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
2) For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL THAT GOD ALWAYS TURNS OUT TO BE BIGGER THAN WE THOUGHT.*

Good Sunday to you! Our traditional day to worship God has arrived and I do hope you take time today to give thanks and praise to the God who has created you, blew the breath of life into you, and who provides you with the joy of eternal life. Wow, and that is only a thumbnail of the many things God needs to be thanked for.  As our inspirational thought for today suggests that whenever we think we have found the ceiling for God’s abilities, God will do an amazing thing and raises the roof in what ever situation we may find ourselves. What is happening in your life today that you feel like you are pressed against the ceiling of possibilities? Remember our God is able to do far more than we could ever imagine or dream.

In our pick verses today, we begin the fourth chapter of the book of Hebrews and a thirteen-verse focus on entering God’s rest. The thought of rest may feel like a needed commodity in our world today. After nearly two years of being on edge over the uncertainties and debates surrounding COVID our minds are crying out for “rest”. God is still in the business of offering His people rest for their journey and rest from their troubles. And yet like the ancient Israelites, we can still risk losing it all through choosing disobedience and unfaithfulness. The unchanging message of the Gospel has been offered to people across countless generations. Some folks will reject God’s invitation and suffer the consequences. Some folks will choose to accept God’s invitation and discover rest for their life’s journey. For those who chose to follow Jesus they will stand on faith which then leads to complete obedience as the only appropriated response to the message of the Gospel. Who might you know that could benefit from what you have experienced as a follower of Jesus?

Blessings
