Monday – January 17th – Hebrews 4:3-11     -----

4:3) For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: "So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest,' " although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
4) For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: "And God rested on the seventh day from all His works";
5) and again in this place: "They shall not enter My rest."
6) Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience,
7) again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts."
8) For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.
9) There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
10) For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
11) Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
     FOR MOST OF US, FORGIVENESS COMES EASILY . . . AFTER WE’VE GOTTEN EVEN.*

      Hello Monday! Another start to another awesome week of possibilities to do Kingdom building. My hope is this will be a blessed and fruitful week for you as you represent the God of creation in your words, actions, and reactions. I think our inspirational thought for today is very interesting, thought provoking, and to close to reality for comfort. While we would like to assign the intent of this statement to someone other than ourselves, I am probably correct in thinking that if not in actuality but in our minds we have probably been tempted to live into this line of thinking. Forgiveness is one of the most challenging aspects of being a Christian. Even though God has forgiven us and has forgot our infractions, we humans are much slower to let go of the hurts from our past. Forgiveness in a healthy sense is letting go of the hurt caused so that hurt doesn’t multiply into to even greater hurt. Forgiveness is not letting someone else off the hook for wrong, inappropriate, or unlawful actions – it is our ability to move on with our life focusing forward. Who might you need to forgive today so that you can be released into a freedom of living?

    Yes, we are tackling nine verses today. These verses are a complete thought by the author as he talks about the rest that can come from a faithful relationship with God. Why do we believe that this rest is available to God’s people today? First, God provided for it at the foundation of creation (v4). Second, human disobedience kept the people under Moses’ care from claiming this rest (v.5 & 6). Third, Joshua led the people into Canaan, but Canaan as a geographical location was not the fullness of the rest promised by God (v.8). Fourth, God, through David in Psalm 95 reestablishes the opportunity of rest to those who obediently follow Him (v.7). With all of this history to draw from let each of us diligently seek out God and the peace God provides to those who trust and obey.

Blessings
