Wednesday – January 26th – Hebrews 6:1-3      -----

6:1) Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,
2) of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3) And this we will do if God permits.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
    WHERE LAW ENDS, TYRANNY BEGINS.*

A wonderful Wednesday welcome to you! Yesterday the inspirational thought focused on my daily reading from Exodus and today in our reading through the Bible in a year program, it followed up with more specific rules of life for the formation of the worshiping nation of Israel. Even today we have additional rules that we are to follow to enhance our relationships with other people. This short excerpt from the Daily Walk Bible summary reading really strikes home to me. “God knew full well the principle that you eventually worship what you serve. Therefore, whatever or whoever commands your attention becomes your god. Recognizing that fact can help you guard against idolatry. Here are two questions that may point to the real “lord” of your life: 1. What do you think about when your mind is in neutral? 2. What do you do during your idle moments? Review your own loyalties, and then fill in the blank: “An objective observer of my life over the past week would conclude that ______ is my god.” Is there something that needs to change in your life?

Our pick verses today from open the sixth chapter of the New Testament book of Hebrews with a call to focus on our individual spiritual growth. The author points out that there are certain non-negotiable teachings that are essential for all believers to understand. Those basics include the importance of an ever-developing faith, the foolishness of trying to be saved by good deeds, the meaning of baptism, the imparting of spiritual gifts, the truth of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, and the certainty of eternal life. For us to continue to grow into Christian maturity and spiritual understanding, we need to move beyond, but not away from, basic teachings to a more complete understanding of faith.  Our goal, as a mature Christian, is too eventual teach new believers the basics of the faith. I have discovered the more I share the more I learn.

Blessings

I'm a list/chart person. I wonder if there's a way to make a list of those "basics" and "solid food" teachings of the faith. I think I know the basics, but it would be helpful for me in interacting with others, especially family. Thanks.

That is such a good message for us all!! May we at SunRise keep growing in our faith-walk with the Lord…and may we impact others so that they may be saved!
