Thursday – January 27th – Hebrews 6:4-6     -----

6:4) For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,
5) and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,
6) if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
GOD IS NEITHER SHUT UP NOR SHUT OUT OF ANY PLACE.*

Good Thursday to you today! Once again, I am echoing the remarks of others around me who state that the days and weeks seem to be going by fast. We are already in the final days of January and near the end of the fourth full week of this year. This feeling of the calendar passing with ever increasing speed reminds me to embrace each day with excitement and with an attitude of celebrating every blessing from God. We should approach each day with a heart centered on enjoying the family and friends God puts around us and be open to the movement of the Holy Spirit for new opportunities to represent the Kingdom of Heaven.

In our pick verses today, we are exploring the author’s warning of the potential possibility of falling away from the truth of the Gospel message. We read of how a truly convicted person, whose understanding has been enlightened by the truth of God and has tasted (fully experienced) the gift of salvation. This person has experienced forgiveness offered through the good news of the gospel. This person has received the power of the Holy Spirit and attempts to walk faithfully in the way of the Lord. Yet, when we become complacent, we can develop an “autopilot” discipleship lifestyle. We become vulnerable for the devil to tempt us with mistruths which can easily result in backsliding from our once faithful walk. A Christian who falters and falls into sin my be forgiven. But those who fall away, who continuously and stubbornly refuse to faithfully follow God, destroy for themselves the benefits of Jesus’ victory on the cross and over the grave.  Whom might you be praying for today who is teetering on believing on the lies of Satan and thus turning away from the truth of God?

Blessings
