Sunday – February 6th – Hebrews 7:8-10 -----
7:8) Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.
9) Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak,
10) for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
A CHRISTIAN’S SPIRITUAL HEALTH IS EXACTLY PROPORTIONAL TO HIS OR HER DEVOTION TO GOD.*
Hello Sunday and hello my blog reading friends. Today at SunRise will be our third installment of our “In This Together” series. If you want to read up on today’s scripture passage it will be from Acts 4. The early church was focused on preaching, teaching and the occasional miracle of healing. All of which disturbed the religious authorities of the day and spurred them into hostile reactions against these passionate followers of Jesus. In-building worship is at 8am and 9:45am. Online worship is live streamed at 9:45am on YouTube, Facebook, and the SunRise Church app, and then available immediately afterwards on-demand for whenever it best fits your schedule. As always, for our online family please share this service with your family and friends. For our YouTube folks please subscribe to SunRise Church O’Fallon to be alerted to all of our great content as it appears throughout the week and be sure to download the SunRise Church O’Fallon app for your smartphone and on your smart TV. Being in this together is produces even greater fruit for the Kingdom when we stayed connected to the latest SunRise information.
In our pick verses today, we continue to explore the comparison of the ancient priest Melchizedek and the perfect priest Jesus. Today’s verses drawn to conclusion the Melchizedek side of this priestly equation. The Old Testament narrative typically gives lengthy information concerning the ancestry, birth, death, and descendants of the great heroes of ancient Judaism. Just think of the lengthy chapters found in the first five books of the Bible where detailed family trees are listed as critical to the historical “connecting” of one generation to the next. The author of Hebrews considers the lack of such information about Melchizedek to not be a stumbling block but instead to be a witness that his life was a prototype of Jesus as the coming Messiah and perfect High Priest who would represent all people before the throne of God. And that my friends is good news for us today.
Blessings
