Wednesday – February 9th – Hebrews 7:15-17 ------
7:15) And it is yet far more evident if, in the likeness of Melchizedek, there arises another priest
16) who has come, not according to the law of a fleshly commandment, but according to the power of an endless life.
17) For He testifies: "You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek."
The Daily Walk Bible Inspirational thought for today:
WE LIVE BY FAITH, AND FAITH LIVES BY EXERCISE.*
Welcome to Wednesday! Yes, the mid-point of the week is here for us to enjoy. Prayers that you are feeling blessed by God and are blessing others through your actions and words. Our inspirational thought is a powerful reminder that our faith is not a static possession that we receive and then drop in a safety deposit box for safe keeping. Faith is to be lived out with our every breath and it grows stronger with each trail and struggle we encounter. Some of the strongest faithed people I know have a long resume of life challenges behind them. I often wonder that if I had to endure even half of what some of the saints of the faith have endured would I still be a believer in a loving and caring God. I am thankful for their witness and their faith that is on display for others to see. Who might you inspire this week as they observe your faith lived out?
In our pick verses today, we continue to explore how Jesus is the only choice as our superior High Priest. Jesus’ claim in holding this honored position is based on the power of his divine nature which is an endless live. While the law of Moses made the Levitical ancestry the basis of the priesthood for ancient Israel, Jesus’ priesthood is based on His eternal nature. The limits of the human priests, both in life and in their human actions were forever replaced by the eternal presence of Jesus. The foundational understand of the Trinity places Jesus as having no beginning and no end. The perfect and sinless life of Jesus restored the hope of our salvation and the forgiveness of our sins through his death on the cross. None of this would ever be possible through the order of the Levitical priesthood. We live in the certain hope that comes from Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection from the dead.
Blessings
