Monday – February 14th – Hebrews 8:1-2     -----

8:1) Now this is the main point of the things we are saying: We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens,
2) a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHITEWASHING THE PUMP WILL NOT PURIFY THE WATER.*

Welcome to Monday which also registers as the mid-point of the month of February – and for me the unofficial mark that we have less than four weeks of potential winter weather (more like less than three but I don’t want to push my hopes to far). In case you didn’t have the opportunity to grow up on a farm back in the day, the inspirational verse might seem strange to your life’s context. Fear not, this thought is a rephrasing of Jesus’ condemnation of the Pharisees of His day. We can make our outer appearance look clean, and fancy, and in perfect order - but our outside may well be in conflict with what is on our inside. God is more interested on what is going on inside you than whatever outward appearance we are projecting to the world. And we need to make sure our insides are holy and pleasing to God. I also know that a coat of paint will only cover the rust on the pump for a little while. So too, our inside will eventually spill over to our outside. What do you want people to see about you this week that will draw them closer to God?

As we begin chapter eight in the book of Hebrews the opening couple of verses set the stage for a closer look at the new priestly ministry of Jesus. First and foremost, Jesus’ priestly ministry belongs in and to the heavenly realm, for Jesus ministers from the throne room of Heaven, not in the Mosaic tabernacle of earth. The main point of the focus of Hebrews is on our High Priest’s present exaltation. Jesus has always been the eternal Son as part of the trinity Godhead. Jesus then offered His sacrifice once for all for the sake of humanity. Following his bodily resurrection, He assumed his seat in Heaven sitting at the right hand of the Father. Being in this exalted position affirms that His work has been fully accepted by the Father. His sacrifice is adequate and acceptable, and His intercession is effective before the throne of God. And this is the person with whom we place our eternal trust and of whom we share with others.

Blessings
