Wednesday – February 16th – Hebrews 8:4-5     -----

8:4) For if He were on earth, He would not be a priest, since there are priests who offer the gifts according to the law;
5) who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, "See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain."

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
      IF GOD LIGHTS THE CANDLE, NO ONE CAN BLOW IT OUT.*

     Welcome to mid-week Wednesday! Our inspirational thought today comes from the closing chapters of the Old Testament book of Numbers, at a time when the Israelites encountered resistance from the people of the lands they were traveling through. Mix together these external battles and their internal complaints it would have been very easy for these nomadic people to just give up and quit. However, God’s plan was for the descendants of Abraham to enter the promise land. And no amount of human resistance (external or internal) has the power to cancel God’s ultimate will. Much like the wise words of Gamaliel in Acts 5, who stated that if the preaching of Jesus by the disciples was God’s plan than any attempts to stop them would mean they were fighting God, and such would ultimately fail. What does God have planned for you that is unstoppable this side of Heaven?

    Our pick verses today continue make the case to rightly elevate Jesus into the role of the perfect and timeless High Priest for all people. The author’s argument for Jesus is that with the frailty of the human priesthood, there was no need for another priest like the Aaronic priests offer gifts and making sacrifice according to the Law in an earthy and man-made sanctuary. Jesus being the final High Priest residing not on earth but in Heaven, as such His sacrifice opened Heaven to all who believe. The Tabernacle made by Moses provided for worship modeled after the spiritual worship over which occurs in Heaven. The Tabernacle, its worship, and the offerings all pointed toward God’s plan of salvation that would be revealed in Christ Jesus. Our worship today is our offering to God of our acknowledgement of what Jesus accomplished on our behalf through his death and resurrection. And that is another thing this week worthy of our sharing our faith with others.

Blessings
