Wednesday – March 16th – Hebrews 10:23     -----

10:23)    Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
WHAT A FATHER SAYS TO HIS CHILDREN MAY NOT BE HEARD BY THE WORLD, BUT IT WILL BE HEARD BY POSTERITY.*

Welcome to Wednesday and to the beginning of the second half of the month of March. We are 76 days into 2020 and less than a week to the first day of spring. Today would be a great day to stop and take a deep breath and enjoy the blessings from God that are all around us. Two years ago this week marks the abrupt change in what was then the normal day to day operations at SunRise. In one sense the physical building went dark and normal activity ceased to happen, but in that same moment the church came alive. I am reflecting back today on the many ways the SunRise family sprang into action by contacting folks to check on their well-being and the to assist with any needs folks might have. The Food-4-Hope ministry accelerated its operations and began process what would be thousands of grocery bags of food to be delivered and distributed to families. Now two years later we are still filling sacks and sending out daily food supplies. I humbly remember the transition of my front living room into a recording studio to video my portions of weekly worship. It was fifty weeks before we were able to return to a fully live worship service at SunRise. We experienced a lot, and learned a lot, over the last two years, but what stands out the most is that you folks are highly adaptable and have the heartbeat of the Kingdom of Heaven inside you. We now know that we can worship and serve God in the shadow of our steeple and in the shadow of our mailboxes. And my friends the best part is that God is not done with SunRise yet.

Today we focus on a small single verse of scripture from the tenth chapter of the New Testament book of Hebrews. The foundation of this verse continues the author’s theme of our drawing near to God in and through faith. We are reminded in this short verse that we are to all display the gifts of endurance and perseverance in order to hold on fast to the faith that comes from God. As faithful followers of Jesus we will be challenged, tempted, and harassed by the devil to abandon our trust, faith, and belief in God’s power. The devil will attempt to seed our minds with doubt that because God does not give us everything we desire therefore God really doesn’t love us. We can be sure that if we remain faith-filled towards God’s promises and faithful to God’s word we shall receive eternal life provided to us through Jesus. God is always faithful to fulfil His promise even when the devil tries to persuade us to believe otherwise. I am reminded of the great old hymn which boldly states “on Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand”. On what ground are your feet planted today?

Blessings
