Saturday – March 26th – Hebrews 11:3 -----
11:3) By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
TO FEEL SORRY FOR THE NEEDY IS NOT THE MARK OF A CHRISTIAN— TO HELP THEM IS.*
Good Saturday to you! The last weekend of March, yet also the first weekend of spring, is our milestone marker for today. The inspirational thought is a much-needed reminder for me. The opportunities to help others is easily measured in unlimited possibilities. Just about everywhere we turn there are real and legitimate needs that exist in people’s lives. However, the reality is that only a very small portion of those opportunities are converted into transformative action. We can easily talk a good game about doing, but then actually “doing” something is much more difficult. We often claim challenges of time, knowledge, and resources as reasons our “doing” falls short of accomplishment. I would challenge you to be intentional this week and discover where God is already at work just waiting for you to seize the day. If you possible need a jump start - it is not too late to join me on our adult mission trip to Jackson, Ky beginning on June 12th. Email me for more information – jdblue@sunrisefamily.org
In our pick verse today, we finish setting the foundation for the nature of our faith in God, as the author of Hebrews prepares us to review a listing of the heroes of the Old Testament faith. These first three verses neatly combine to reinforce the divine reality that “faith” means believing that the invisible word of God is greater than anything we can see. The power that created all that exists (both known and yet to be discovered by humanity) goes far beyond our ability to logically explain. The same power that creates also continues the work to sustain the entire visible universe. Faith means we trust what God has stated in scripture as being sufficient for us to believe in God’s promises and to accept God’s invitation into a harmonious relationship. Faith means that we don’t have it all figured out from a logical point of view before we say “yes”. The very story of creation can either baffle people toward confusion or plant in them an invincible belief. Everything with God is a matter of individual choice. In the words of Joshua – choose this day whom you will serve.
Blessings
