Wednesday – March 30th – Hebrews 11:9-10     ------

11:9)   By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise;
10) for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
     THERE IS A VAST DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUTTING YOUR NOSE IN OTHER PEOPLE’S BUSINESS AND PUTTING YOUR HEART IN OTHER PEOPLE’S PROBLEMS.*

     Welcome to Wednesday and in case you are asked – the ninety day of 2022! Our inspirational thought for today really hits home with me. I confess it is a whole lot easier to poke around in other people’s business than it is to really take a step of faith to intentionally help them out. The Bible is filled with examples of the extremes of both nose and heart human nature . In our reading through the Bible in a year program, yesterday’s reading in 2 Samuel 16 includes a handful of incidents where people attempted to manipulate the problems of others in order to benefit themselves. While let unresolved in chapter sixteen’s reading, I know that in future chapters each of these less than honorable men will have to pay for placing their nose where their heart should have been. At we navigate this mid-week check in I plan to concentrate on following my heart and only use my nose to smell the coffee.

    In our pick verses today the author of Hebrews continues to extol the faith virtues of Abraham’s faith. As we read this list of Old Testament saints it is important to remember that the original audience of this letter was first century Jewish people converting to Christianity. Both this chapter and this book were intentional in tying together the accepted and revered history of Judaism with Jesus being the fulfillment of the promise for a Messiah in the linage of David. Even when Abraham reached Canaan, he lived for years as a stranger in the very land God had promised him. Even then Abraham believed that God would give this land to his yet to be born descendants. With God as the giver of the promise Abraham knew that the foundation of this promise was as certain and as strong as a mighty foundation laid for a great city. For the New Testament reader of this letter the author’s “city” reference is none other than Heaven itself, the eternal dwelling place of God. Our faith and belief in Jesus gives us the entrance key for this great city of God.

Blessings
