Saturday – April 2nd – Hebrews 11:17-19     -----

11:17) By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18) of whom it was said, "In Isaac your seed shall be called,"
19) concluding that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead, from which he also received him in a figurative sense.

PRAYER AT ITS BEST EMPLOYS FOUR STATEMENTS: THANK YOU; I’M SORRY; TEACH ME; GO WITH ME.*

Good Saturday to you! April kicks-off at SunRise today with Cars-n-Coffee in the west parking lot from 8am-10am and with Upward Soccer in the east parking lot all morning. Next Saturday our Family Ministry team host an exciting outside Easter bash for the young and young at heart. Yes, the activates at SunRise sure indicate that spring has arrived. Let’s hope the weather has read our calendar and is willing to cooperate. Enjoy the outdoors as we move into this blessed time of Spring and our almost complete journey to the empty tomb.

In our pick verses today the author of Hebrews returns his focus to Abraham and Abraham’s biggest test of faith. This ultimate test of Abraham’s faith is his willingness to trust God with the life of his son Isaac. When Abraham was nearly 100 years old God fulfilled the promise of a son born to Abraham that would make him the father of many nations. Now, how could God fulfil this amazing promise if Abraham obeyed the command to offer Isaac as a sacrifice? But Abraham’s faith was equal to the test. He believed the ultimate and was convinced that God could raise Isaac from the dead. What an unbelievable test of Abraham’s faith and what an unbelievable trust Abraham had in God. I am convinced that God will never place any of us in a similar situation, but I do know that we are faced with opportunities to trust God throughout each day that are much smaller in scope. Even in the small things we must make a choice if we trust God in faith or reject God based on the lies of the devil. God rejoices every time we choose to trust and believe.

Blessings
