Thursday – April 7th – Hebrews 11:28 -----
11:28) By faith he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE INCONSISTENT CHRISTIAN IS ONE OF THE DEVIL’S BEST WORKERS.*
Happy and healthy Thursday to you! Our inspirational thought today is a powerful statement on spiritual warfare and an great insight into the tactics of the devil. The devil relies on being able to distract us from focusing on our spiritual growth needs. The devil is least effective when we are confronted with huge obstacles or major life choices. The subtle distractions of life are much more effective strategies to nudge us off course. A little adjustment here followed by a minor tweak there will eventually land us miles off course down the road. If I can develop a discipleship plan and then follow it consistently, I can see the results which in turn encourage me to stay on track. This drives the devil crazy – which is part of our job description as a follower of Jesus.
The beauty of Hebrews chapter eleven is how it doubles as a great outline for the highpoints in the Old Testament. As we read this chapter, we are reminded of the major acts of faith by the saints of old that, when laid end to end, provide a direct path to embrace the truth of Jesus as God’s promise of a Messiah for both Israel and the entire world. Today’s pick verse focuses on the final plague God sent to Egypt resulting in their release from slavery. Even with nine pervious examples of God’s might and power to draw from Moses and the Hebrew slaves were required to trust God one more time before they gained their freedom. The angle of death would enter the land of Egypt with the assignment to kill all the first-born males of both humans and animals. The sign God required to receive exemption was the blood of a lamb smeared on the doorposts of the homes that sheltered the Hebrews. In faith Moses believed that God would protect the Hebrews and through faith Moses passed along this assurance to a fear-filled group of slaves. I confess that when scary things come my way, I worry that God has already used up His last miracle. Faith is believing that the miracles of God are unlimited.
Blessings
