Tuesday – April 12th – Hebrews 11:35 -----
11:35) Women received their dead raised to life again. And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection.
The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
PEOPLE MAY SPURN YOUR APPEALS, REJECT YOUR MESSAGES, AND OPPOSE YOUR ARGUMENTS, BUT THEY ARE HELPLESS AGAINST YOUR PRAYERS.*
Welcome to Tuesday of Holy Week. I am praying that you have included in your week’s activities spending time in the gospels to read and reflect on the story of Holy week from the perspectives of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. An extra 10-15 minutes each day will deliver you to the empty tomb on Sunday with a renewed sense of the depths of God’s love for you. Our inspirational thought for today is a powerful reminder of what our greatest weapon is in spiritual warfare. The power of prayer far exceeds anything we may try to do to win people over to Jesus or to resist temptation. Prayer should be the first activity and the foundational approach to any opportunity to witness. As today’s thought indicates folks can resist words and dismiss actions, but they are powerless against our prayers. Whom do you need to pray for today?
Our pick verse for today is the author’s attempt to even further his argument about the power of faith in a person’s life. Today’s examples record what may be considered extremes for even faith to overcome. The Old Testament contains three references to people who were raised from the dead. The prophets Elijah and Elisha were both credited in raising a dead son to life and returning him to their respective mothers. The third instance is of a dead man thrown into the grave of Elisha and the man’s life was instantly restored. Even in the Old Testament, those who attempted to stay faithful to God were met with rejection and persecution. They would not accept human deliverance from persecution because to do so would have meant denying their faith. They preferred the promise of an eternal resurrection, choosing life in heaven rather than a longer life on earth. Such commitment and strong faith landed these actions into the faith hall of fame.
Blessing
