Thursday – April 21st – Hebrews 12:12-13     -----

12)  Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees,
13) and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
SINCE WE FIGHT FOR THE LIBERTY TO WORSHIP, SHOULD WE NOT MAKE MORE USE OF THAT LIBERTY?*

Happy Thursday to you! The timing of today’s inspirational thought is very interesting coming during the week following Easter Sunday celebrations. Typically, in the life of most churches Easter and Christmas Eve services can be 2-4 times larger than the weekly average for non-holiday weekend worship. There is an old saying that states “familiarity breeds contempt”. The meaning suggests that extensive knowledge of or close association with someone or something leads to a loss of respect for them or it.  I would suggest that the writer of our inspirational thought would adjust that old phrase to “familiarity breeds content”. Of which I would translate as when something is readily available it is often dismissed for something more adventurous. In countries where Christianity is openly persecuted churches often flourishes, but in areas where the freedom to worship has existed for generations attending church is too often chosen only when convenient. I am thankful Jesus elected for the inconvenience of the cross so that we could be offered the gift of eternal life.

In our pick verses today, the author of Hebrews focuses on the importance of God’s loving discipline for our lives. As we read these two verses, we can surmise that God is not only a disciplining parent but also a demanding coach who pushes us to our limits by requiring us to live our lives in holy discipline. While we may not feel strong enough to push on to victory, we will be able to accomplish all God has in store for our lives if we submit to follow in the steps of Jesus and lean into the power of the Holy Spirit for our inner strength. And before we know it, we then can use our accumulating experiences to help those around us who are weak and struggling. Life as a Christian should always be viewed through the lens of being part of a connected community of believers.

Blessings
