Hello Friday!! Yes, the end of the week has arrived and with it the last two days of the month of April. One-third of 2022 is near completion and the call of warmer spring days are on the horizon – at least for those in the shadow of the O’Fallon steeple. Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, graduations, and the first fruits of summer plans are what is on the calendar waiting for us as we turn the page on Sunday. What are you considering doing differently this summer? In your home, in your work, in your activities, in your spiritual walk. How can the next two-thirds of 2022 be the best ever in your life?
In our pick verse today, the author wraps us the subsection on the pursuit of spiritual holiness. Today’s verse contrasts Jesus the mediator of the new covenant with Moses the mediator of the old covenant. The divine nature of Jesus holds the power to invite us into the presence of God. It is through our pursuit of spiritual holiness – living like Jesus while on earth – that completes our access to the throne room of God. As a human, Moses was afraid to approach God for out of fear of his unworthiness to be in the presence of the almighty creator. Abel’s human blood only brought guilt and condemnation to Cain. Whereas Jesus’ blood ushers in the better things of God – forgiveness and cleansing. As a believer in Jesus, we are given the gifts of grace and peace that only come from the Father in Heaven.
