Wednesday – May 4th – Hebrews 13:5-6      -----

13:5)  Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
6) So we may boldly say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
CONFESSION WITHOUT CHANGE IS JUST A GAME.*

Welcome to another Wednesday in 2022, albeit the first Wednesday of the merry merry month of May. I pray your week is going well and God’s blessings are abundant in your life. Our inspirational thought today has a direct correlation to the amount and degree of our personal experiences with God’s blessings. God’s ultimate desire is for us to obediently live under God’s word, God’s will, and God’s way. Our human nature is to be in rebellion against each of these requirements for our individual lives. The tension created by these two polar opposites is what is know as sin. God, through the work of Jesus on the cross, has extended forgiveness in our direction. To accept God’s forgiveness our response is to acknowledge our rebellion and then confess our sin. With confession comes an about face from our sinful actions. To do anything less is just as our inspirational thought states – to make a mockery of God’s sacrifice on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins.

In our pick verses today, we conclude this short section on how we are to express God’s love to each other. The term “covet” comes from the ten commandments, which means at the time of this writing the Jewish people had over fifteen hundred years of time to perfect this charge from God. Christians, like the people of Moses’ day, are not to be motivated by covetousness – a desire for more and more of something/someone that in the end jeopardizes our relationship with God and with others.  In the ten commandments we are instructed not to covet our neighbors’ goods or our neighbors’ wife. We are admonished to be content with what we have because the Lord will both supply what we need and protect us from harm. When we make it a priority to invite God into the decision-making portion of our lives, there will be fewer times in the future when we need God to get us out of our self-made messes.

Blessings
