Saturday – May 7th – Hebrews 13:9-10     -----

13:9)   Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
10) We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
THE FINGER THAT POINTS THE WAY IS PART OF THE HAND THAT PROVIDES THE NEED.*

Good Saturday to you! The weekend is here and for those in the shadow of the O’Fallon steeple the sun is shining, and the ground is drying out. Sounds of lawn mowers, weed eaters, and, at my house, roto-tillers will fill the air around us. Don’t forget to schedule some time to be part of a worshiping community on Sunday. At SunRise we are ready for Mother’s Day celebrations and for the third installment of our current teaching series - 3:16 Believer. This week we will look at another powerful 3:16 (chapter/verse) from the Bible. Yes, there a some great 3:16’s other than John 3:16 in the Bible. Join us in-building at 8am or 9:45am, live-stream at 9:45am, or on demand throughout the week.

In our pick verses today, from this final chapter in the book of Hebrews, we continue reading and reflecting on the author’s instructions for living a faithful Christian life. The remarkable think is that these instructions are timeless and still hold relevancy for believers today. Of course, some of the specific illustrations are date and culturally sensitive, but the underlaying thought transcends each generation since the time this was written. For first century believers’ strange doctrines probably referred to teachings that Jewish sacrifices or sacrificial meals were necessary for salvation. The Good News is that we receive God’s grace and our salvation from the spiritual altar provided through the life, death, and bodily resurrection of Jesus. Because of the work of Jesus, we are now free from making the required sacrifices of tabernacle worship. What strange doctrines might believers be confronted with today?

Blessings
