Welcome to Friday the 13th. While many folks find this day/date combination to be a little unsettling, for me as a follower of Jesus who puts their complete trust in the power of the creator of the universe, today is just another day on the calendar. With all that being said, back in the day when my life including ambulance work, I can attest to some very weird Friday the 13th’ calls, especially when they coincided with a full moon. Ambulances, ERs, and emergency personnel were always on high alert when that interesting combo came around. I am glad we place our lives in the hands of a God who loves us unconditionally and who always has our best interest in mind – even if at times we have a different opinion of what is best for us. So, my friends enjoy today because this is just another day the Lord has made for us to rejoice and praise His holy name.

In our pick verse today, we are stepping through the author of Hebrews statements of blessings and farewell. While benediction verses can be pretty much standard statements of wrapping up a letter, we were reminded on Sunday that ALL scripture is God-breathed and that in each and every verse of scripture God has a purpose for it use in our lives. In this verse today we are reflecting on the reality that God is the source of all true peace in our lives. God reconciles us to Himself and gives us a feeling of wholeness. God is the One behind the saving work of Jesus. It is God, and God alone, who possessed the power to raise Jesus from the dead. Jesus is the great shepherd who provides all things necessary for His people and has complete authority over all believers. God’s plan of salvation through Jesus is the everlasting covenant extend to all who will accept and believe in the redeeming work of the cross and the grave.  How exciting that the first half of this benediction introduces the fullness of the Gospel in such a compact way. When we are at a loss for words – remember simple and to the point is typically best.

Blessings
