13:23)  Know that our brother Timothy has been set free, with whom I shall see you if he comes shortly.

The Daily Walk Bible inspirational thought for today:
OF ALL THE DEVIL’S TOOLS FOR MAKING US MISERABLE, DISCOURAGEMENT IS HIS FINEST AND MOST FREQUENTLY USED.*

Good Monday to you and happy crossover day for the last half of the month of May. Another blink or two and we will be living out June fun and activities. The inspirational thought for today demands both our time and attention. I admit it is easy to forget, or set on the back burner, the reality that all followers of Jesus are in a daily spiritual warfare battle with the forces of evil. The goal of our enemy is to distract, disrupt, and eventually destroy our relationship with God. I have personally found today’s thought to be right on target. Discouragement comes in many forms including unfulfilled expectations – I have an idea of how things should work out and when they take a different route I immediately fall into the sinful response of anger. Sadly, this anger is often directed at people, and rarely aimed at the devil who set me up for discouragement in the first place. As we begin a new week may we all recognize the enemy in our battles and remember that when we resist the devil he will flee.

In our pick verse for today the author continues to wrap up this letter by including a handful of farewell comments intended to encourage and strengthen his readers. The mention of Timothy in this verse is one of the main arguments for those who champion the authorship credit to Paul. Others suggest that the dating of this letter was after Paul’s death and following an undocumented time when Timothy was apparently released following some type of detention. Since biblical scholars have not been able to accurately identify a specific audience or geographically location for the original landing spot for this letter, we are to rest on the accepted thoughts that it was to Jewish coverts who were under persecution from Jewish traditionalists in the later half of the first century. We can deduce that Timothy, Paul’s young associate, was well known by both the author and the readers. My takeaway from the unknow authorship question is that in the Kingdom of Heaven’s economy it is not as important to be personally recognized for our work as it is to be producing fruit for the kingdom.

Blessings

I would add that doubt is number one tool the Devil uses to distract me which may lead to discouragement.
