THE BEGINNING OF ANXIETY IS THE END OF FAITH; THE BEGINNING OF TRUE FAITH IS THE END OF ANXIETY.*
Good Saturday to you! Another weekend of fun and warm weather to enjoy God’s beautiful creation. What are you plans to create some quality personal time, as well as, promoting the Kingdom of Heaven with folks you meet along the way? Our inspirational thought today reminds me that faith and anxiety cannot effectively occupy the same time and space. I confess there have been times when I have attempted to juggle both faith and anxiety in the same situation. The results were never positive and usually created an even greater amount of angst in the process. As followers of Jesus, we are a faith-based people. Everything required to believe in Jesus is grounded in faith – the substance of things hoped for, yet the evidence of things we have not yet seen. Spend some time today allowing faith to lead you where typically anxiety would find a foothold in your thoughts.
In our pick verse today, James concludes his teaching on the reality of Christians being tempted by the devil, but more importantly what God does on our behalf. God is the one who initiates our salvation, the greatest of the good gifts He has given to us. Through this perfect gift God has made us new person (born again) in and through Jesus. This is accomplished by the unchanging word of truth found in the Gospel message. James calls his original readers of this letter “first-fruits” of God’s gift of salvation. We can be confident that if they are “first” then others would also be included in this free gift of salvation from God. Thankfully you and I are part of the “others” to be saved. There is ample space in Heaven for those you may know that don’t yet know Jesus. Take a moment to share God’s free gift with someone this weekend.
